这本《I met them in China》是一本英文诗画集，作者 Leila Pirani 将自己在中国旅行的见闻感受写成这十四首小诗（舞龙、驴铃、门神、北京车、九龙壁、庙会、金鱼王、算命人等），其中略有中国风情的插画由 Ruth Shackel 绘制。此书于1944年在澳大利亚出版。

书前序言，作者如此描述：中国，大家都知道那里，如此令人难忘。在此书，记录下我对这个国家的印象以及我对这个民族的喜爱。（China, as anyone who has been there knows, is unforgettable. In this book I have set down a few impressions of a country and a people I love.）
